This is a truly incredible and very unique specimen featuring a layer of micro druzy so fine it is known as “felt.” It is beyond rare to see felt forming over botryoidal structure like this, and the blue shining through makes it a standout, museum grade piece.

Galaxy Coral Head (half specimen)
These exceptionally rare Agatized corals formed about 25 to 30 million years ago when Tampa Bay was covered by warm shallow seas. In deep marine pockets, silica replaced the original coral structure and created chalcedony in remarkable blue and black tones that occur almost exclusively in underwater deposits.
Some specimens contain opal, drusy quartz, or trace minerals and may fluoresce under ultraviolet light, reflecting the unique chemistry of their formation (see this specimens specific characteristics below).
All photos and videos are shown without editing or color enhancement so what you see is exactly what you receive, and every specimen is securely packaged and shipped via USPS or UPS for dependable delivery.
This is fossilized coral that has been ethically sourced. No modern ecosystem coral was harmed during collection.
