Unearthing Florida’s Ancient Treasures

Dig Dive Discover bridges exploration and education. Every specimen we recover is documented and preserved with scientific integrity, whether it ends up in a private collection or a museum archive. Our collection offers the world’s most extensive array of agatized coral, all discovered and processed by us in Florida, USA. Rare black and blue banded agatized coral is exclusive to the Gulf Coast. Our unique blend of minerals and fossils is represented at world-renowned institutions, including the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

Agatized coral is a gem-like mineral formed when ancient coral is replaced by agate, preserving the external appearance of these animals while introducing the vibrant colors and banding characteristic of agates. In 2020, fossil divers Rick Cochrane and Henry Sadler discovered a remote site known as the Deep Ocean Pocket. Recovered by hand in near-zero visibility, thick mud, strong and position difficult to relocate even by experienced divers, each specimen represents a journey millions of years in the making, from our hands to yours, a piece of what time left in stone.
