Flat Mirror Polishing (Our Signature Finish)

This is our highest level of preparation and the finish we use for true display specimens.

Flat mirror polishing is the most intensive finishing method we offer. A surface of the specimen is cut and ground flat, then polished through progressively finer abrasives until it becomes smooth and reflective. The result is a surface that reveals internal structure with exceptional clarity.

In agatized coral, this can bring out deposition patterns, banding, mineral replacement features, and subtle color variations that are often hard to see on rough material.

Typical steps include:

  • Precision cutting to create a flat surface
  • Grinding through multiple abrasive stages
  • Final polishing to achieve a reflective finish

This process requires specialized equipment and time. We recommend it for exceptional specimens, investment pieces, or anything with significant personal value.

Important Notes

Breakage Policy

Specimens may fracture or break during the polishing process. Minor edge or corner breaks are common, and the final shape may differ slightly from the original.

If a significant break occurs, we will contact you so you can decide how to proceed. You may choose to keep the specimen as-is or approve a repair.

In the event of a break, we will provide a 25% discount on a future claim based on the original claim price (excluding shipping, taxes, and fees). This is not based on perceived or market value.
